What’s Your Purse-nality?
I thought this was a pretty cute video on ABC News about what your purse says about you.
On average, women carry purses that weigh 3.4lbs with an average of 67 items. I love how Diane Sawyer rummages through her co-worker’s purse to find some random things like a ratty single panty hose sock.
Of the four categories mentioned, I think I belong to the Monogamous Purse lady. I have never bought a purse in my life, all the purses that I have (a grand total of 5) were given to me as gifts. I’m not handbag person, in fact I’m more of the wallet chain type of girl, but apparently it’s not classy.
Current Purse: Kenneth Cole Hobo Hand Glide Bag
Can anyone tell me why they call it a Hobo bag? Doesn’t sound very attractive to me. Anyway, this purse is the one I carry right now but only because it’s the latest one I got. It’s big, I stuff all kinds of crap in it, including rechargeable wires for my iPod and my phone, my makeup pouch, wallet, Tide-to-Go, candy, bus pass, etc. (pictured left)
Favorite Purse: Vinyl Record purse with the Moody Blues theme
This is my favorite, mainly because it’s unique and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. It’s small enough to fit the necessities so I don’t have to worry about leaving stuff out. Handles are starting to tear on the side though.
The Fake Purse: Cream leather faux Prada purse
Yes, I own something that’s fake, but like I said, it was a gift from a relative who went to Vietnam. And lo and behold, counterfeiting goods are a hot commodity there. They had faux Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Prada purses to boot. Surprisingly the leather is very soft and it’s a pretty solid looking purse, may not have a great fabric for lining but it does its purpose.
The First Purse: Anne Klein leather baguette w/ flap
Classic looking thing, I wear it to go out at night without it being too flashy.
The Chinese Purse: Green satin purse with embroidered design on the side.
I really liked this purse until the handle stitching gave way and it’s not something you can fix on your own either. Unfortunately this kind of purse frays over time, so it’s not worth buying one of this material.
Handbags are something I could care less about, shoes on the other hand are another story 
At the moment I am using a black generic purse from my cousin. I dumped it out, and there are 5 receipts, a compact, a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses, my wallet, sunscreen, a pen, a measuring tape, a tiny garden gnome, and a shopping list. Do you think that is average? 67 items seems like a lot. I wonder if they counted the stuff inside the wallet. If they do, that brings my total up to 22.
Maybe I’m a closet minimalist!

Oh I haven’t counted how many items I have in mine, I’m afraid to look! I try to consider myself simplistic too but the insides of my purse reflect the insides of my apartment – very messy. But I consider myself orderly in my mess nonetheless, I know where everything is…usually! lol
